I have just returned from my trip to Ukraine and Russia. I met the woman I had been writing to for many months. We met in Kiev. Shen awaited me in boryspol airport with a rose in hand. I found her to be the beautiful charming individual I had written. She was excited when I asked her to marry, I t hardly seems believable that I am engaged. Planes, trains and wild taxi rides where my mainstay in my travels. Also I have never seen as many beautiful women as I did in Odessa and Kiev. I would highly reccomend visiting these two cities especially if you are looking for a life partner

WOW! that is all I can say. I am happy that you have over come the trials and tribulations of culture shock. I know how that is. My mother is Cherokee and my father is Czech. When they married they decided to live in Prague and when the kids were old enou h to make the journey we came to america to live on a Indian reservation in Oklahoma. ONE BIG SHOCK !! But right now I am going back to school to be a teacher but work as a physical thearapist in a hospital to support myself. But on the bright side I am oing to Odessa to marry a beautiful lady named Svetlana. To save her from the cultural shock of coming to america we plan on living in Odessa until her son Maxim is old enough or married which ever comes first and then maybe look into moving to another pl ce. I would SPARE my lovely lady from the traumatical exposure to malicious bureaucracy! There are other ways of doing business with malicious bureaucracies! You really need to talk to an expert Immigrati n Lawyer born in Ukraine and who now practices Law here in the States! I would not go the other way as the Fulers did! Their story is a great theme for a movie which depicts modern, malicious bureaucracies! Guys...get a life! Go see an expert first, before you subject yourself to malicious bureaucracies, and then get busy to learn basic Russian, then get that Ukrainian Lawyer to arrange all of your legal documents in order. Moreover, get your Senator and Con ressman involved. Write to the Liaison to the President. Get your Senator to prepare a Letter to the U.S. Embassy (Chief Counsel)in Kiev by which you are declared his "constituent" (have you voted for him?) and worthy of "expedited" process! Anyway...do you get the gist? So please don't traumatize yourself and your lovely lady from Ukraine! Get a little jurisprudence under your belts! It would do wonders for you all! A PRECAUTIONARY TALE: Gentlemen, I do not wish to sound bitter, but I think it is worth noting a few things from my recent experience. Let me note upfront that I speak russian. First: Victoria Tours, which is the agency I used, is pobably pretty good in the honesty department, all things considered. However, when I used my own resources to book hotel arrangements and noted that their translations of my letters did not seem to reflect accurately what my lady seemed to understand -- well, they cut me off a the ankles. No accounting for unspent (?) funds. No returned telephone calls. Nada. Zippo. So. Advice numbers 1-3: Be nice to the agency BUT DEMAND the lady's full name and telephone number AND if at all possible learn a little russian before that first exciting visit. It really isn't that hard compared to english and you can get a pretty dec nt grasp on it using audio tapes from say Amazon.com. I recommend either Pimsleur or Living Language. Advice nos. 3-4: READ Dave & Sveta Fuller's K-1 link at this website. It is terrific, and they are as it happens friends of mine! Finally be aware th t visa requirements to Ukrainia have changed, but the agencies probably are not aware of it, and some of the consulate offices aren't either. IT IS TO THE AGENCIES' FINANCIAL ADVANTAGE NOT TO KNOW THAT INVITATIONS ARE NO LONGER REQUIRED FOR PERSONAL OR BU INESS VISAS!! So check it out on your own with the embassy on the OFFICIAL APPLICATION. And if you require a tourist visa, any decent travel agency will get the hotel booked and the required support letter for you, or you can do it yourself on the web. J st go to the UA Homepage website. Finally, there are some wonderful ladies in the Ukraine - GOOD LUCK.

Let me tell you, I really enjoyed reading your trip to Odessa. I am going on July 25th and retruning on September 8th. I going to see a very lovely lady in Kherson, its about 2 hours from Odessa by car. I am ariving in Kiev and staying with my lady there or 7 days and then I am going to Odessa for 5 days. After that, I will be going to her city to meet her family. Then on the 25th of Augest I am taking her to Yalta for here brithday for 5 days. I returned from Odessa April 26th, 1999. There I met my wife to be.. Yulia! I could not be happier now and we are working on her visa. We took in all the sites and even participated in a tandem jump with the Odessa Sport parachute club. We met many wond rful people and we made a lot of good friends. hi, i was married in odessa, ukraine on 12/31/98 we are now going thru the spousal visa process.. has anyone been thru this as of yet? most pages i find are regarding fiance visas and not spousal..i also read a page from the consulate in kiev that states how difficult it is to obtain a fiance visa if two people met on internet etc. because their intention is to immigrate to the usa..anyone feel fre to reply to me,,,, fredlang@webtv.net

Odessa is BY FAR one of the coolest places to visit and to call your home. The two weeks I was there in October wasn't nearly long enough. I miss it and my lady terribly but, she'll be here (USA) in February. If you're looking for complete tourist info, suggest www.odessaglobe.com as a great source.

I met a woman from the internet and went to go see her in Odessa. We had a lovely time of it,But when I went back home to try and get her to come to the USA,I sent her all the forms to fill out from Immigrations for a Fiance Visa Petition. she ran into a problem trying to get her son to leave the country without her former husbands signature,also she didnt know where he is in Russia for over 4 years. Our relationship is starting to stall because we don't know what to do about this. How can I get her and her son here,without the ex husbands signature? is this an issue of false?

I was in Odessa from Aug. 10th to Aug. 24th. 1998. I am now engaged to the woman I went there to see. I am from British Columbia Canada. We have similar visa requirements here. Do you know what problems she might have with her government trying to come to Canada? Do you think it would be easier to get married in Odessa and have her immigrate to Canada as a bride? She should have her visa by the end of January. Her documents will be ready before then. All she will need to do in Jan. is have her medical exam Thanks for being on line.
